Week one with no softball. I have been able to get a lot of my other school work done in my free time, and I have also had more time to relax and catch up on sleep. I posted a TikTok for the first round of states, even though we lost, but it got 600 likes! That's the most likes any TikTok on my page has ever gotten, and it made me kind of sad that it turned out to be the last TikTok that got the most likes. I wasn't able to meet the goal I set halfway through the project of reaching 100 followers, but I came pretty close. The TikTok page ended up with 96 followers and 1240 likes total. That is pretty good considering that I have run my actual TikTok account a lot longer and have more videos than the softball TikTok and still haven't reached that many total likes. Anyways, this past week, we have started having our end-of-season meetings with the coaches. I don't know how other peoples meetings have gone, but I had mine yesterday and I think that it went pretty well. It ended early because Handy had to leave, so I had to finish the meeting during flex time. We talked about how we thought the overall season went, captains, team chemistry, stats, and more stuff that I can't remember at the moment. Overall, it went pretty well and those meetings kind of helped when it comes to being able to voice your opinion of how you thought the season went. Anyways, this project was extremely fun and helped me learn A LOT about my time management. This project gave me something to do and kept me busy, and I would do it the same all over again. See ya, #15 out!

As you can probably tell from the title of this week's blog, the Davie 2024 softball season has finally come to an end as of yesterday. We lost the first round of state playoffs 5-3 against Cuthbertson, a school out of South Carolina. We had a remarkable season and I wasn't ready for the season to be over yet, but all seasons come to an end at some point and our ending just happened to be last night. On another note, I was able to post 2 more videos in the last week and a half, one for senior night and one just a few minutes ago for our first round of states. Even though we lost, it is clear in some parts of the video that we played our hearts out and left it all on the field. If this season has taught me anything, it's that time really does fly when you're having fun, and that mistakes don't define who you are. The fact that you tried and gave it your all, even if it didn't go your way, makes you stronger than you think. I am beyond honored to say that I got to play with some of the girls from this year, they all mean so much to me. Anyways, with the season being over officially, I will have more time to get ahead on my work and not procrastinate as much, which will also help my stress levels go down at least a little before the exam stress starts to kick in. This will also give me a chance to go back through the videos I took and pick out some clips to include in my genius hour presentation, which I have also had more time to work on here lately. This project helped not only show me how hard it is to manage my time during softball season, but also brought me closer with a lot of the girls and unified the team more, since we all had funny video moments to look back on, laugh at, and even cry about. 11 weeks down, 1 left to go.
I am finally working on putting together another video to post from senior night last week. I am gathering pictures from a whole bunch of people and contacting everyone I can that can give me videos or pictures of just the seniors. The video will hopefully be completely put together and posted by this afternoon before our first CPC Tournament game. We play Mount Tabor and if we win (when we win), we will play West Forsyth tomorrow. West has been a really big competitor for us this year, and we've lost both times we played them. We lost once 2-0, but then it kind of went downhill and we lost 6-12 the next time. Whoops. Anyways, I think that we can finally beat them this time, we just have to work WITH each other as a team instead of AGAINST each other. After this week of the CPC Tournament is over, we have state playoffs next week. We are ranked somewhere in the "-teens" right now and depending on how well we do in the CPC Tournament, our standings might be moved by the end of the week. They might go up, they might go down. Who knows? I will work on posting for each game of the Tournament and for the playoffs, if I can remember, lol. We have a pretty strong team this year and if we can string some hits together and keep our defense strong, I think we will be just fine in the tournament and in the state playoffs. Once we lose, the 2024 Davie softball season is over, and I am not sure if I am ready for the season to be over or not. It is pretty stressful trying to manage softball with school, but I love playing softball, I love the team, and I love how much fun I have when I am around those girls. So I might miss it just a little, especially since I won't be able to come back next year with one of my best friends. She's going to Caldwell Community College, and who knows when our last game will be this year? Anyways, I will try to remember to post a lot for the tournament and especially the playoffs. Until next time!
Well, I know that I said I was going to get some work done on the genius hour project this week, but that isn't exactly how my week ended up. I have procrastinated so much over the last couple of weeks that I have a whole bunch of work that has piled up, especially for my math class. I have been so focused on making sure that I finally get my school work done that I had honestly forgotten that my genius hour Tik Tok account even exists. On the positive side, I am planning out a post for our senior night game which happens to be tomorrow. I am both thrilled and sad that our regular season is coming to an end. One of the girls that is leaving this year is going to be one of the hardest goodbyes. I have known her pretty much since day 1 and it is going to be sad to see her go. We have so many memories together over the last two years from games and practices and I don't know what I will do without her. Anyways, I am putting together a plan to get clips of the seniors walking out on the field and a couple pictures from the seniors enjoying their night, like a little senior appreciation post. I will interview other players and see how they feel about the seniors leaving. After our season ends, I also plan on posting post-season videos of players and how they think our season went. I will ask them questions about how they feel after the season. I am really trying to focus on making sure that I keep up with making posts and videos these last few weeks to meet my new goal of 100 followers. Hopefully, I will be able to stick to my plan for these videos and make a few more posts before the end of the project, after I am able to catch up on my school work. Stay tuned for the videos over the last couple weeks of this project.
Well, were 3 quarters of the way done with this project and I have a total of 6 videos. Not really sure if that is good or bad but I mean, I guess it progress. I haven't been able to post another video just yet because of the amount of times we have had to rearrange and reschedule a lot of our games. It has also been hard to manage my time due to the amount of schoolwork I have had when getting home from practice. We have had very few practice days since last week and we have been having at least 3 games a week with some on Saturdays. Last week, we played East Forsyth, Reagan, and Lake Norman. They were some tough games but Davie softball came out on top of each game. So far this week, we have played East Forsyth again and last night we played Mount Tabor. We won both of those games and I was able to squeeze in a home run right before the last bit of the game against Mount Tabor. The season is slowly coming to an end and we only have 3 games left of the regular season. Once the regular season ends, we will have the CPC Conference Tournament and then playoffs, if we can make it to them. Those games will give me more opportunities to get some good footage of interviews mostly and record our successes along the way. I am currently still sitting at 90 followers, same as last week, but I have a good feeling about the next few weeks. I am going to try to post more content throughout these last couple of games to get other opinions about closing out the season. Stay tuned until next week!
I am going to start off by saying I am glad that we are over halfway done with this project. Although it has been extremely fun to interview people and mic up the players at practices, it has also been a little tough to keep track of remembering that I still have to post videos on my actual Tik Tok account. Posting on the Tik Tok account has been something that happens somewhere between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. every night that I have the chance to put a video together. It takes about 30 minutes to go through all of the video clips and crop them to where they are showing only the best parts of the interviews and mic ups that would seem interesting or entertaining to others. I was able to put together an interview from a while back on my account last week due to it being spring break and me having a lot of time on my hands. We have been having a lot more games here lately due to the amount of rain that we are getting and everything having to be rescheduled. The softball schedule is just a mess at the moment and it is hard to plan the interviews and mic ups for practices when we have games getting pushed forward and backward because of the weather. There are some days where I am on top of everything and have a certain interview or mic up planned for that day, but then our games or practices will get rained out. There are other days where I am just so stressed with school work and getting all of my softball stuff together that I forget to bring the tiny mics for us to even have a chance to film an interview or mic up. Anyway, the video that I was able to post last week got up to 103 likes and 849 views. I have been able to gain a couple followers and have reached 90. Only 10 more to go until I hit 100, which is a new goal that I have set for myself to complete throughout this entire project. Hopefully, I reach the goal and can gain a little more free time in the last few weeks to post some more content!
It has been a while since I have posted anything on my TikTok page due to the amount of games we have to play each week and the limited amount of time that I have to do anything besides school work here lately. However, next week is spring break and I will not be going anywhere so I will try to put all of the previous clips from interviews and 1 mic up into a video that I can post. I have had to play three games this week and they have been constantly moved around due to the amount of rain we have been getting. It has been raining so much and I mean, I like the rain. But I don't like how we have to have indoor practice whenever it rains because all we do the whole practice is condition, and I don't like running or conditioning at all. However, since we have been having a lot of "easy" games here lately, our coach decided that we should have a fun day of practice so on Wednesday, we did a little bit of "fun conditioning," shot some free throws, and played kickball, as well as get out of practice a little over an hour early. I have had a pretty stressful week, but that was a good stress reliever to not have to worry about having a hard practice. The account continues to grow little by little and is reaching a steady point where the number of followers is beginning to slow down. But with the next few videos that I post next week, we should be able to gain hopefully at least a couple more followers. Until next time!
This week has been full of stress and very little videoing. I have projects and homework that I have pushed off for every single one of my classes and I have been working hard to get those things done. It is kind of my fault for putting myself in this position, but I think I will be okay. We did another mic up at Monday's practice and got a few clips of the pitchers for our team. There weren't really a lot of clips of them talking since they were more focused on pitching, which I guess is kind of a good thing. Another interview video is in the process of being edited! I let a couple of softball players go around and interview people from the crowd before the varsity game started and let's just say, I think this video will be a good one. There were a lot of funny clips of answers from people to our random questions. The new mics are working great and seem to have a little bit of clearer speaking and hearing quality than the last ones, but that might also just be the fact that I haven't been able to use those mics in a while. Our followers and likes continue to slowly increase, but hey, that's still pretty good considering I haven't been able to post anything in a while. We have 2 more games this week, including a double-header against Parkland. We played West yesterday and unfortunately, we didn't come out of that game with a win but we did come out of that game with some good content. The videos will come together and be posted some time by the end of this week.

As we get into the first few games of the softball season, it's hard to remember that there are videos that need posting. The weeks during softball season, at least for now, are jam-packed with games almost every single day! Some games keep getting rained out or moved up because of the rain, so it's a little hard to know when we will have another mic up. The few practices that we have had in between games have been pretty much just running and working on basic things, so I haven't been allowed to mic up those practices. Although, I don't know that I would want to mic up people at those practices for the world to see the softball team struggling during conditioning. The interviews are slowly making their way into the Tik Tok page though, so that's good. Interviews will begin to be a more regular thing than the mic ups, since we have so many games being piled into the weeks that it isn't supposed to rain. Update on the mic situation, I just got in the new mics from Amazon and let's just say, I WILL NOT be buying another pair of mics, so let's pray that these don't break. The mics were really expensive for their size and I kind of forgot about them the first couple days after getting them due to not having mics for a while and not really having time to focus on planning the interviews. My first interview video got around 660 views, but the second time is the charm I guess because the second interview video has around 1040 views!! This also circles back around to one of my earlier posts where I mentioned that a lot of people's second videos are more popular than their first. Hopefully, the view numbers will keep climbing and I will update the new view numbers next week! Edited @ 10:33 3/20/24
I have been juggling this project along with school and softball, but it is going pretty well. It has been hard to stay on track of posting new videos all the time, but I think that the very few that I have posted are pretty successful. The second video that I posted just keeps gaining popularity! I guess Ashley Bledsoe and Carleigh Croom are just some very popular people. The account has reached 82 followers and 332 likes, which is more than last week. A lot of people from Davie high school have found my account and followed it, as well as a lot of the parents of the Davie softball players. I was able to post my first video of coach interviews last week and I am creating another interview post of the players and fans before the varsity Forbush vs. Davie game that will be ready soon. I will continue to mic up players and interview people, but I will have to pause for now due to some technical difficulties. One of the two mics has been missing for a couple days due to some miscommunication as to where the mics ended up after a game when I put the mics in our phone box. Also, the connector for my phone has completely fallen apart and the chip that plugs into my phone decided that now, a quarter of the way into the project, that it was a good time to break and make me use more of my money to buy some new equipment. But, good news! I am ordering new mics in hopes of them arriving soon and the videos will be back on track so stay tuned! |
